SUNSET

Twilight is upon us

Shadows of trees  have   elongated

Lightness has thinned out

Dark   inkiness   has crept  in

The  excited   birds are winging

Homeward  talking nineteen to the dozen

The sky is all streaked up and tinted

Oranges, yellows, ochres, pale reds

All flowing into one another

Colored by a dying sun

Blue skies  dotted with   white clouds

Have long since vanished

Now only a golden touch remains

Like icing  on a huge cake

On treetops, housetops, mountaintops

The  sun   is preparing to call it a day

And  has now pulled up   the bedcovers

of the horizon  and the ocean all around its body

And only  its   forehead  is visible

The sea has stopped shimmering

And   now,   is preparing to play

to the tune of a rising moon

Stripped of  its gold   finery

It has now donned silver threads

Having changed masters

The hordes of  worshippers   of the dying sun

now make obesaince and  a   wish

before it dips into  Oblivion

Reappearing  Houdinilike

In  another continent as

SUNRISE!!!!
The sky broke like an egg into full sunset and the water caught fire.
Pamela Hansford Johnson
English, Critic Quotes

Sunsets are so beautiful that they almost seem as if we were looking through the gates of Heaven.
John Lubbock
British, Statesman Quotes

When I admire the wonders of a sunset or the beauty of the moon, my soul expands in the worship of the creator.
Mohandas Gandhi
Indian, Leader Quotes

There is nothing is more musical than a sunset. He who feels what he sees will find no more
beautiful example of development in all that book which, alas, musicians read but too little
 - the book of Nature.
Claude Debussy
French, Composer Quotes

Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.
Rabindranath Tagore
Indian, Poet Quotes

It was a rich and gorgeous sunset - an American sunset; and the ruddy glow of the sky was
reflected from some extensive pools of water among the shadowy copses in the meadow below.
Francis Parkman
American, Historian Quotes

Winter Commute

Cold crisp air makes my knuckles blue

Automatically I curl up within myself

And my coat, trying to push my neck

Inwards like a tortoise, husbanding my warmth

A shiver passes rapidly like an electric current

My feet suddenly feel cold and calumny

I pull my collar close and button up tight

Hanging on to all the coziness that is to be had

Curls of wispy breaths rise and fly away

My nose turns red and is dry no more

My eyes give company and get weepy as well

My being clamors for a hot cup of anything!

The commute is long and dreary

Home seems far, far away

But it beckons invitingly as I hasten to it

Chasing my blues with a song in my heart

Periwinkle

Periwinkle skies stretching endlessly

Boast splashes of white hither n thither

The sun shines bright and golden

Making the garden flowers take notice

Side walkers sporting colorful threads

Enjoy this lovely day, longtime in coming

My heart jumps up and I want to sing

Gather daisies that are there for the having

Periwinkle waters shimmer in waves of gold

Letting boats ride over it fast n furious

Periwinkle skies stretching endlessly

Herald summer longtime in coming

Now cold winter goes into hibernation

Finally, neither mourned nor missed!
