Loss
Today my tears stabbed me in the back
Broke tether and escaped from captivity
Love n togetherness, togetherness n love
Go hand in hand, two hearts beat as one
One heart stops, other heart beating in tandem
Falters, yet grief stricken valiantly carries on
Loss of loved one is equal to both in every respect
To children unquestionably, to others yet, not so
A woman from wife transitions to a widow
Object of pity, fodder for society to prey upon
Friends, neighbors, kith n kin, all known folks
Overnight become predators and exploiters
A man on the other hand, even though grief stricken
Carries on, attracting full support of each n everyone
In west, a woman becoming a widow is a mishap
Not a calamity, then why is it not the same in east
Eastern women prey upon women not sparing their own
Money is a great equalizer yet there is still this disparity
Society conscienceless, touts emancipation from rooftops, yet
Its true colors are revealed when tragedy knocks at its doorstep

A heartbroken widow
Bewildered, asks why???

Essence of Living
Savoring every piece every second
Moment to moment, iota to iota
Making every grain of time count
Stand for something truly precious
Basking in the warmth of near and dear
Treasuring and soaking in their love
Minding neither admonishments nor
Imparted advice, emanating out of care
Appreciating nature stretched out
On a chaise long, reveling in reemergence
Of benign sun, illuminating and caressing
All that it touches, enthusing and energizing
Learning lessons from the industrious
Squirrel, lazing lizard, chirruping bird
Fluttering butterfly and pearly strings of
Raindrops, sparkling on overhead wires
Relishing every occasion, each holiday
With gusto and enthusiasm as the air
Crackles with excitement and electricity
And holiday cheer momentarily joins all
Keeping the right frame of mind always as

Hard times befall, overcoming and hanging on
Will be easier, knowing it has but a short life span

Fate
Fate, Fado, Fortune, Kismet
What is in a term or a name,
The end result is your game
With finality, they bid adieus in churches, at the gate
Weeping happily, they declare honey this is your fate
Now always love and obey him as he is your soul mate
Lifelong conditioning precluded questions or stalemate
Love or arranged marriage, when two bodies reside as one
A tug of war ensues before mutual respect n dues are won

Dreams
Sweet lullabies sung me to sleep
Dream dreamy dreams baby, do not weep
I believed, dreamt, slept without further peep
Childhood threshold was crossed over, asleep
Onset of teens wrought havoc on body and mind
Making me reclusive, dreaming dreams unkind
Parental guidance and rebukes always declined
Dreams became scary and hairy and maligned
Youth brought its own particular set of built in woes
Onset of soon becoming an adult, coming on tipsy toes
