Duality In Unity
Like a coconut shell
I shelter you within
Like a banyan tree
I cool you beneath
I am your buffer
Betwixt earth and sky
I am the soothing emollient
On your tender scab
I am the soft Pashmina
warming your shivers
I am the nurturer
As you suckle me
I am the eternal lover
As you beguile me
I am the eternal yin
To your constant yang
I am the beginning
You are the end
We are two sumo wrestlers
Pleasuring others
We are two heavenly bodies
Ever circling
You are the pea
In the pod of life
You are dynamic
I am passive
We are two atoms
Energizing all
We are two faces of creation
Saint and Satan ever fencing
We represent the duality
Of the universal truth of one
There are in every man, always, two simultaneous allegiances,
one to God, the other to Satan. Invocation of God, or Spirituality,
is a desire to climb higher; that of Satan, or animality, is delight in descent.
Charles Baudelaire
1821-1867, French Poet
When Satan makes impure verses, Allah sends a divine tune to cleanse them.
George Bernard Shaw
1856-1950, Irish-born British Dramatist
But Satan now is wiser than of yore, and tempts by making rich, not making poor
Alexander Pope
1688-1744, British Poet, Critic, Translator
