Child’s first of everything
Makes parent gaga and sing
Seasons come, stay and go
Leaving a lingering glow

First flush of green summer
Will color memories forever
Spring in the air heralds
Misty days that dazzled

Seaside trips and intricate sandcastles
Beaches making all spent time joyful
Fall has its own rhythm and rhyme
Brilliant colors please and shine

Winter covers all in coolest white
Swathing dark colors shiny bright
All seasons, all sights and sounds
Flora and fauna n all that abounds

Leave many images in our heads
In indelible ink they are etched
First victory at college, school
First win in sports and pool

First awareness of budding self
Shedding skin like a chrysalis
First flush of meeting a kindred spirit
First kiss and flush of first love visit

Still give goose bumps as they are all
Imaged in indelible ink holding in thrall
First heartbreak and first patch ups
First cigarette n first ‘drink hiccough

First long kiss and first thrill of mingling
Body and souls forever selves kindling
All are life various vignettes
Etched in memory’s tablets
Stored and hoarded in memory chests
All etched and preserved not as guests
They are permanent inhabitants
Patched and quilted bits n bytes
Memory chips permanently written
Indelibly making us forever smitten
memories sweet memories are etched indelible
to be visited fondly, enjoyed n relished at will
Line by line, moment by moment, special times are etched into our
memories in the permanent ink of everlasting love in our relationships

  The memories of my family outings are still a source of strength to me.
I remember we’d all pile into the car—I forget what kind it was—and drive  and drive. I’m not sure where we’d go, but I think there were some trees there.   The smell of something was strong in the air as we played whatever sport we played.   I remember a bigger, older guy we called ‘Dad.’ We’d eat some stuff, or not, and  then I think we went home. I guess some things never leave you.
