Sadness
A state of mind
When all is not well
The spirit is droopy
You feel all weepy
Life is out of sync
And you cannot think
Now what?
A state of mind
Joie de vivre missing
Limbs are heavy n stiff
The mind can make or break
Through the maze of gloom
Propel it away firmly.
The needle of hope n light
Has to be reclaimed.
In the haystack of life.
Now what?
A state of mind
You have to change your tack
Old rules out of the window
Current norms are passe
New times demand new remedies
Go with the flow and make rules
That fit and work for you
Your sadness will start to thaw
You will chill out and become
Suffused by warmth and hope
Dissipating sadness
And heaviness of spirit.
Now what?
A state of mind
The bounce will be back
The gleam in the eyes
Shall shine again.
There shall be spring
In your walk
And the whole being
Shall exude happiness
Of mind and spirit
Shedding the skin of
Sadness once again!
“When the melancholy fit shall fall
Sudden from heaven like a weeping cloud,
That fosters the droop-headed flowers all,
And hides the green hill in an April shroud;
Then glut thy sorrow on a morning rose.”
-John Keats, “Ode on Melancholy.’1819
